Mountains and Ibex photography
We have been away for the last few weeks walking the TMB. The Tour de mt Blanc in a long distance hike around the mt Blanc massif in the alps, it’s about 100 miles and takes about 11 days. The route goes through France, Italy and Switzerland and is considered to be one of the best hikes in Europe, also once a year some folk get together to run it all at once in an ultra-marathon! I took my camera to get some landscape photos whenever conditions (both mine and environmental) allowed.
I saw these Ibex rutting near a refuge we were staying at, the sight (and sound) of this framed by the huge mountains really was fantastic. I managed to get a couple of shots before tea! I also managed to get quite close to one near the end of the walk when we were above Chamonix in France. With this set I was trying to frame it with mt Blanc (the high rounded peak) and the Mer de Glace (a nice S bend glacier) also in frame.
I had seen some extraordinary photos of the mountains in the Alps processed in black and white (not unlike Ansel Adams) so I when for that in the majority of my processing. It is a spectacular part of the world and I am looking forward to going back with a bunch more of my camera gear and getting some more landscape photos. Now back to the weddings…
