Wedding Photography at the Mansion in Leeds

We were delighted to be asked to do the wedding photography for our friends Leanne and Matt in early September.  The wedding was held at The Mansion in Roundhay Park, Leeds – a new venue for us but one that didn’t disappoint!  There were many interesting features to use in The Mansion itself and the location within Roundhay Park meant we were spoiled for choice with wedding photography spots.

Wedding Photography from Blacker Hall Farm

We recently provided the wedding photography for Anna and Fraser with the ceremony at St Peter’s in Birstall and the reception at Blacker Hall Farm, which fortunately was only about a mile from where I live, which was handy.  Anna and Fraser were friends of a couple of other wedding clients we had photographed a few months ago, so it’s always nice to get a bit of word of mouth advertising.  Both the bride and groom were really relaxed, the wedding was super informal “the plan is… there is no plan’ and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves.

          Wedding Photography in Harrogate

We were over in Harrogate at Christ Church (for the 2nd day running) at the end of August taking the photos for the fantastic wedding of Debra and Liam.  The weather was a little better than the day before, we managed to get outside for the groups  but the rain set in when we got to the reception at Dower House in Knaresborough.  You may have noticed Debra looked quite stunning, this is not a camera trick, she was breathtakingly fabulous to the point where I nearly handed the camera to a passer-by telling them they would have no trouble taking the photos as when the subjects are this good they tend to take themselves (I didn’t, that would have been professionally negligent).  Liam was a good lad too, very genuine, most grooms are quite pleased on their wedding day and I got the impression Liam was no exception!  A really fantastic couple to take shots of and I was pleased we managed to get them done before the rain came, as when it came, it really meant business!

          East Riddlesden Hall Wedding Photographer

We were at East Riddlesden Hall near Keighley for the August bank holiday photographing the wedding of Jenny and Stephen.  I’d met the couple for the prewed at the venue only the day before in glorious sunshine but during the evening the rain set in!  East riddlesden hall is a lovely old manor with cool oak beams and some beautiful gardens so it was a little gutting that the weather turned bad.  Jenny and Stephen didn’t let it worry them and were great all day, really relaxed and a pleasure to photograph.  Jenny looked absolutely stunning with a really great dress that had these awesome flower type things at the back (can you tell I read a lot of womens fashion and bridal mags).  Whatever they were it made for some great photos.  The ceremony was actually at Christ Church in Harrogate, which is my new favourite church, the folk there were really friendly and accommodating, even letting us throw confetti in the aisle as it was tipping it down outside, it was a bonus as we were there at a wedding the following day!

We recently provided wedding photography for the beautiful wedding of Anna Marie and Simon.  I had been looking forward to this one for quite some time as I had met the couple a few times and they really were …

A couple of lakes landscapes from the vault

          Boathouse on Ullswater at Sunrise

          Boathouse on Ullswater at Sunrise

With no new landscapes taken recently, and with the weather like it is, none in the foreseeable future, I’ve resorted to digging a couple from the maybe pile that I don’t think I ever posted. These were taken last October both on the same day, one at the start and one at the end.  I had somehow managed to arrive at the duke of Portland’s boathouse on Ullswater about 2 hours before sunrise, no idea how my timings were so off but I proceeded to freeze to death on the banks of the lake so I made sure I got some frozen leaves in the foreground in one of the shots to remind me how cold it was!  In the end I decided to use a more panoramic version of this instead of this squarer crop but I still quite like it, I loved the golden Light coming over the fells from the east.  I’m also sticking this one up as we have booked to stay at the boathouse on a bit of a minimoon after our wedding next year so fingers crossed for the same weather then!  For anyone who is interested the expo data is f/16, 16mm, ISO100, 0.8 secs and if memory serves I will have had a soft Lee graduated filter on to get the deep blue of the sky.

          Rogerthorpe Manor Wedding Photographer

We were at Rogerthorpe Manor in Badsworth a few weeks ago covering the lovely wedding of Kate and Mark.  It was a nice relaxed affair with plenty of kids running about.  The sun was shining and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves.  Kate and Mark had mentioned they would like to possibly get in one of the nearby fields to take a few shots which we were all for.  The weather conditions were ideal and the ground was nice and dry, a rare occurrence this August I can assure you!  Anyway we got some really nice ones with the golden wheat and the cool looking clouds.  I think it’s always nice to get the couple away from the crowd for a few minutes to let them have a bit of a quiet moment together.

          Wortley Hall Wedding Photographer

We recently provided the wedding photography for the lovely wedding of Melanie & Phillip at Wortley Hall near Sheffield.  Wortley hall and the surrounding  gardens make for a great wedding location and although the weather wasn’t ideal, with a bit of rain here and there, everyone was in good spirits.  The bridal party was one of the largest I’ve seen but everyone was very close and it was easy to get shots of laughs and smiles.  Melanie looked really stunning and she and Phil were very relaxed in front of the camera.

          Mirfield Monastery Wedding Photography

We recently provided the photography for the beautiful wedding blessing of Liz & Imad at the fantastic Mirfield Monastery.  Liz and Imad actually got married a few months ago in Jordan but decided to have a bit of an informal blessing in Mirfield.  The actual blessing was at the trinity methodist church in Mirfield then we headed up to the monastery for the reception.  Now normally at weddings the singing can be a bit lacklustre to say the least, not so here, everyone was belting it out, it was quite awe inspiring.
