We were at Denton Hall near Ilkley a few weeks ago to photograph the beautiful wedding of Shona and John. To begin with let me say how lovely a couple these two are, really friendly and down to earth, it was an absolute pleasure to be asked to take their wedding photos. Denton Hall is a fantastic location with loads of features both inside and out. They have a really cool spiral staircase and some fantastic black and white tiled floors, great for photographic inspiration.

We were at Newburgh Priory in Coxwold in North Yorkshire a few weeks ago providing the wedding photography for the beautiful wedding of Sarah and David.  The couple had exclusive use of Newburgh Priory which was nice.  Newburgh Priory is a fantastic old house with loads of great features, the guests seemed particularly keen on the huge roaring fireplace before the ceremony to get dry from the relentless rain in the morning.  The ceremony was lovely with some nice readings.  We did some quick group shots after the ceremony inside (as it was still raining) but we did manage to get out for a few shots of the newly weds.
We recently provided the wedding photography for Simon and Gill and their lovely wedding at Wortley Hall near Sheffield.  The couple had gone for a Greek theme, Gill had a Jenny Packam dress which I always think have a little bit of a Greek/Roman twist to them, although I must say that is about the limit of my knowledge of wedding dresses!
We were down near London a few weeks ago at Mulberry House providing the wedding photography for the beautiful wedding of Chris and Nicola.  We have known Chris for some time now, we stayed with him for a while in Chile during our travels a few years ago and he is a lovely guy.  We met Nicola at the prewed at a bar in London and liked her immediately.  We knew this would be a great wedding and had been looking forward to it since they booked us last year.
We were doing the wedding photography for a lovely couple at Temple Newsam near Leeds recently.¬† Ossian and Mary Jane are a fantastic couple, very down to earth and seemed to share a lot of our interests, very into the outdoor adventures.¬† They are currently diving off Borneo at one of our favourite spots (Jealous, us?).¬† Ossian hailed from Scotland so there were plenty of kilts and various tartans. ¬†Both were into their ales ‚Äď they even managed to find some brews named after them! (The real weddings questionaire for this wedding is here)
We recently covered the lovely wedding of Rebecca & Stephen at Bagden Hall in Denby Dale, West Yorkshire. ¬†We started out at Rebecca’s house with bridal prep shots and a few of the girls, apparently Stephen has a bit of a cleaning OCD thing going on so we tried to keep things tidy whilst trying to keep out of the way. ¬†Once the girls were ready we got a few shots in the garden in case it started raining later. ¬†Set off to the church in Ossett, wasn’t the warmest of days but the rain held off which is always good. Did a few group shots (I try and get these done and dusted pretty quick) after the ceremony and the couple headed up to Bagden Hall in a nice Range Rover. ¬†Again as we weren’t sure if the rain would hold off we got the couple type shots done whilst guests were arriving. ¬†Their daughter Megan was a bridesmaid and I always like including any kids for the first bit of the couple shots.
Bit of a unique wedding photography post today as it is the photography from our very own wedding! ¬†That’s right photographers get married too! ¬†We got married at the end of April at the Punch Bowl in the beautiful Lyth Valley in the Lake District. ¬†Before I go on I cannot speak highly enough of The Punch Bowl and all the staff, they ran things absolutely perfectly, it was everything we hoped it would be and if you are up that way I would highly recommend dropping in for a spot of lunch, the food is to die for! ¬†For about a year I have had clients enquiring as to who is going to take our wedding photographs. ¬†We had some specific requirements for the photography, as a photographer I wanted to have a certain amount of control how I wanted the photos to turn out, both at the time they are captured and also how they were processed, so most professional wedding photographers were out straight away (not that they wouldn’t have done a fantastic job, there are some brilliant wedding photographers out there at the moment). ¬†So I turned to my good friend Sam who loves his photography and who comes out with me from time to time to take photos. ¬†Sam soaks up photography info like a sponge and I’ve watched his shots improve consistently over the years so as long as he said yes, and as long as he didn’t crack under the pressure, I knew we would be ok!
We were recently at Waterton Park in Walton near Wakefield covering the civil partnership of Rebecca and Michelle.  It was all very relaxed and light hearted, I had one eye on the weather, unusual considering the weather we had in March, but it stayed dry and we managed to get outside for a few groups and some informal photos of the lovely couple.  Michelle had arrived in an awesome retro VW camper van as a surprise from Rebecca, I have a lot of time for these things, very photogenic.  So it was nice to do some shots around that after the ceremony.
We recently had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for the beautiful wedding of Danielle and Matt at the Holdsworth House Hotel near Halifax. ¬†I’ll start by saying that we had been looking forward to this wedding since they booked us over a year ago. ¬†Danni and Matt are such a lovely couple it was another one of these weddings where we really felt more like guests with cameras instead of wedding photographers. ¬†Holdsworth house is an equally lovely venue, we did a great wedding there last year and have quite a few coming up this year as well so we were quite excited about doing the photos. ¬†There was quite a thick frost about which is generally the case for February weddings but it looked great, almost like a light dusting of snow, ¬†I knew if it stayed clear and we could get the couple outside before it got dark we would be laughing. ¬†It was quite cold out, people weren’t overly thrilled about darting out for the quick big group photo but we managed and did a few smaller groups indoors but I always say to couples I try and keep group shots to a minimum.
